Christopher
Bone is an artist who lives and works in Folkestone,
on the South East coast of Kent. He has a studio based
in the Old High Street, in an area known as The Creative
Quarter, which is part of an initiative to regenerate
Folkestone's old town.
Born in 1958 Christopher studied Foundation Art at the
Hertfordshire College of Art and Design in St Albans,
followed by a BA (Hons) in Fine Art at Canterbury College
of Art, gaining his degree in 1980.
Moving to Folkestone in 1985, Christopher quickly established
a studio in the town and continued to build a reputation
as a painter of richly toned and highly atmospheric images
- especially those based in and around the harbour area
of Folkestone.
From 1996-98 he studied MA Fine Art at
Canterbury Christchurch College, under the artist David
Shutt. He found this both an interesting and challenging
period in his life which led to a profound and positive
effect on his painting and approach to art in general.
Over the last 8 years Christopher has taught art in
Adult Education in a number of locations in East Kent
- primarily at the White Lodge Centre, now relocated
to The Cube - a purpose built centre in the heart of
Folkestone; he has also run art classes in his studio
including life drawing and painting.
Christopher has exhibited extensively in East Kent,
and on several occasions at the Mall Galleries in London
with the Royal Society of British Artists, The Pastel
Society and the Royal Society of Portrait Painters. |
